Movies and Elevators

Why is it that the elevator doors in movies never open back up when someone sticks their arm in or something? The lesson to be learned here is that you never chase someone who enters an elevator, because you will inevitably get your arm stuck, at which point the chasee will either break it off or conveniently shoot you with a gun.

On the flip side . . . sometimes I wish the elevators at work worked like that. Stop delaying me and catch the next one you prick!
