Church of Jiu Jitsu
The mat is my church, the ground is my heaven, Jiu-Jitsu is my religion. And once you hit the ground you're in my world. My world is like the ocean, I’m like a shark and most people don't even know how to swim - Draculino
Saw that on the internet somewhere. Cool quote.
Weights, Books & Television
Friday's here!
Unfortunately I totally fucked myself for the entire weekend. I worked out my legs on Wednesday and now they're shot to hell. Going up and down the stairs is like pulling teeth. If there was ever a reason to never work out legs again, this would be it.

I'd like to thank my friend Kevin for rekindling my love affair with the public library. He has inspired me to start taking advantage of the library again, although I will always prefer owning books to borrowing them. He also gave me a tip which makes borrowing even better: the NYPL has an online catalog and reservation system! SWEET! I tried to reserve The Time Traveler's Wife but there were literally hundreds of holds for it. I guess I'll have to wait til the movie is done showing in theatres before I'm able to borrow it, but I remember being intrigued with this book when I first found out they were turning it into a movie. I currently have on hold: The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, The Omnivore's Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals by Michael Pollan and The Revolution: A Manifesto by Ron Paul.

The two tv shows I'm currently watching are Dr. Who and Freaks and Geeks. I have no qualms about venturing into scifi territory, but Dr. Who is pretty out there. I was a wee bit turned off with the first two episodes because of how extremely geeky/cheesy/nerdy it was, but it's actually not that bad. It's decent enough to want to make me finish the first season.
I picked up Freaks and Geeks because I've always heard rave reviews about it. It's one of those tv shows that got prematurely canceled and taken off the air after only one season, but developed a cult following. I had no idea so many stars were in it. Seth Rogen, James Franco and Jason Segel are all in it! So far I'm really liking the show. Some of the dialog is hilarious.
Sam Weir: We’re not adults. We’re kids until we turn 18.
Neal Schweiber: Maybe you are, but when I hit 13, I became a man.
Bill Haverchuck: That’s only in your temple, Neil, not in the real world.
That had me cracking . . . although I realize it's a lot less funny reading it on a screen.
Movies and Elevators
Why is it that the elevator doors in movies never open back up when someone sticks their arm in or something? The lesson to be learned here is that you never chase someone who enters an elevator, because you will inevitably get your arm stuck, at which point the chasee will either break it off or conveniently shoot you with a gun.
On the flip side . . . sometimes I wish the elevators at work worked like that. Stop delaying me and catch the next one you prick!
Radio Rants
I'm not sure if it's because I'm internet savvy or not, but why is it that every time I hear them talk about news, pop culture, and just general current affairs on these morning shows, it always seem like old news to me? Radio is so antiquated.
And I don't know if it's just me, but every time I hear a "Guitar Hero song" being played on the radio, I immediately want to play guitar Hero.
Currently playing: Cheap Trick - Surrender
Don’t Ask Why, Ask Why Not
Why do people like to see roadblocks instead of opportunities? It seems like sometimes people will find a million and one ways for why something might not work, but don't look at why something can work.
This is definitely something that should have been reserved for Twitter, but since I don't have access to that at work . . .
