Assumptions
One thing that really annoys me is when someone thinks they know more about me than I do. It doesn't matter if I tell them they are flat wrong. They believe what they want to believe.
I was hanging out with my friends the other day and I'm unsure how the topic came about, but one of my friends said that I must really love to fight. I told him I did not, and he asked me why else would I be training in what I train in if I didn't and he noted how much I loved mma.
Is it really unfathomable that people who are interested in these types of activities are just fascinated with it and choose to learn and train as a form of fun, recreational activity? That the majority of people who actually train (not those who just watch The Ultimate Fighter and automatically think they are tough guys) have no intentions of beating people up?
My friend knows that I don't get into fights, but he seemed to somehow imply that I secretly have some primal desire to do so. This is why I am reluctant to talk about my training and mma in general with many people. Ironically, it's usually guys who associate a certain type of image with this stuff. I think women couldn't care less. In my experience anyway.
So before you come to any conclusions about me, keep in mind that you could very well be wrong. Especially when I explicitly tell you that you are wrong.
