Semi-Charmed Life

Rainy in New York

As far as I know, Manny's body has not been found yet. A lot of people are seemingly optimistic, or are at least putting on a good display of it. "Hope for the best, expect the worst" is what they say, and I guess that pretty much sums up how I'm feeling. The reality of the situation is very grim and is hard to deny.

I have not known Manny long, yet there is this deep pain inside me. The one thing I will remember most about him that separates him from a lot of people is his smile. Always smiling. Even in the middle of an intense sparring match, he'll smile like he's having the time of his life.

I hope against hope that he is alive and that he is just stranded somewhere. I will never forget that day where he went in sparring as a seemingly big underdog, and completely surprised everyone with his heart and tenacity. Moments like those live on.

Learning how to swim was always on the backburner of my t0-do list. Now it's a priority. I'm looking into signing up for weekend classes starting next weekend. Being in the water is a terrifying prospect for a person who does not know how to swim. I'm going to make it my goal to conquer this fear.

This probably sounds a little over-ambitious for a person who can't even swim yet, but I am going to be good enough at swimming so that I will never be helpless if somebody in the water needs my help.

I was finally able to get a class in. I haven't gone for about a week and change until today. Work is killing me . . .

End of Month Dinner: Daisy May’s

At the end of every month I meet up with some fraternity brothers of mine from Binghamton for dinner. Shit is no joke . . . you miss a dinner you owe a bottle at the next one. Unless it's for a good reason. "I'm broke" can't be one of them.

This month we ate bbq from Daisy May's. It was right by Danny's apartment so we ate on the top of his building.

We even have a name for this exclusive dinner club of ours. It's a little corny though so I'll only tell ya if you ask me in person.

Da Funk

I've been really out of it this past week. Didn't go to any of my bjj classes and didn't take many pictures. Work is really messing with me. I've noticed that when I'm thrown off my schedule, I fall into some type of funk. It's Friday and it's a beautiful day yet I have zero enthusiasm for this coming weekend.

What the heck is wrong with me?
