Ryan Hall vs Hermes Franca at Grapplers Quest at UFC Fan Expo Boston 2010

An unfortunate side of sport bjj is the butt scoot. I would rather two players fight from their feet and jockey for position from there. Or pull guard if you have to, but don't butt scoot! Regardless, Ryan Hall has such a sick guard. Good production on the video, but they should show the points on screen as well because it's hard for me to follow.

A Higher Standard

Normally I say that I'm the type of person who lives without regret, but last night I did something petty and immoral that has been eating away at me since. In my younger years I probably would not have thought twice about it, but I guess as I'm developing what seems to be . . . a conscience. *gasp*

I'm going to try and make whatever amends I can to rectify the situation, but what's done is done. Hopefully I won't slip again and fall back into this type of behavior ever again.

On another note, I received my first stripe on my blue belt yesterday and rather than feeling elated, I felt like total shit about it. I don't feel like my skills warrant any type of promotion just yet, so the stripe felt a little empty. There are so many people at the gym caught up with the whole idea of rank. What I've realized ever since getting my blue belt is that the color of your belt or how many stripes you have is irrelevant. The truth is on the mats.
