A Weekend in Pictures

Deceptive title . . . I didn't take many this weekend.

On Friday night, I went to my bjj class after work. After that, I met up with my friends to celebrate James's (is that right?) birthday. On my way there I took a picture of another street performer.

I could not stay long at the bar though because I had some things to do early in the morning on Saturday. I called it a night at midnight.

The next day, after I took care of some errands in I met up with Steve in Queens and we ate in Flushing Mall. Apparently Flushing Mall has upped their food game, at least according to Steve. Steve went for some Taiwanese cuisine, well I decided on Xi'an Famous Foods. I just looked this place up on Yelp! and apparently they are pretty popular. I had the spicy & tingly beef noodle soup and it was damn good. Will definitely come back here next time.

We met up with Jein later on and we watched Iron Man 2. ehhhhhh . . . it was alright.

It was a great day overall, with beautiful weather and good company but the worst part of the day was that I completely forgot to take any pictures. I was even more upset because I had my camera in my car the whole time but I guess I just forgot.

So there goes one blemish on my record . . . oh well.

Today was another great day. I slept early on Saturday and finally was able to catch up on some good sleep. Slept a good 8 hours and woke up feeling great. I ate breakfast and made my way to the gym. After the gym I trekked it out to the city for my improv class at 3. Surprisingly I had a very good time in class today. The focus on today's class was how the status that we want our characters to have can be conveyed physically. We did a few non-verbal exercises that probably looked silly but was pretty fun and more importantly it really helped make us understand how important it is to be able to physically express yourself as well as verbally.

After class I met up with Pat and Nancy for dinner at Georgia's Eastside BBQ in LES.

We had the sampson style bbq wings and they were pretty good. Even better with the hot sauce they had. Can't remember the name of the hot sauce though.

I ordered the fried chicken dinner, which I had mixed feelings about. The first piece I had was a drumstick and it was delicious. The spices they seasoned it with was very good and I thought the skin had the perfect amount of crispiness. Then I had tried the fried chicken breast and it was pretty dry . . . I probably should have ordered all dark meat or something.

Pat had the rib dinner and I tried some of the ribs. I thought they were great! Came right off the bone. It had a very smokey charred flavor to it, which I found to be pretty bland at first but the more I ate the more I enjoyed it.

Nancy ordered the pull pork sandwich, which I thought was good. It was very tender. Probably a little too tender in my opinion because it freaking just melted in my mouth!

I was not very impressed by the sides. The coleslaw tasted a little dry and did not have a lot of flavor to it. The cornbread was not very good in my opinion. How can a bbq joint have bad cornbread? Blasphemous. Apparently though, Nancy does not share my enthusiasm about cornbread. She said cornbread was a waste of space. I love cornbread but I should have listened to her at that moment. The collared greens were also bad, but I've never liked collared greens so take that with a grain of salt. The only saving grace were the fries. Very good!

Not a bad place overall. I would go back. I'd probably try the pull pork if I ever do.

Fishmarket Friday

Long day at work. My boy Jein picked me up after work and we headed to Fishmarket Restaurant down by South Street Seaport for some food and beer.

Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

Met up with some friends after work to hang out in the city. Didn't exactly celebrate it all Cinco de Mayo'ish though . . . we ended up eating at this joint: Mama's Food Shop.

Had some great fried chicken along with some delicious macaroni and cheese. Even topped it off with some banana cream pie. Not a bad spot, and the price was right.

Rough day at work today, but nothing like Shake Shack for dinner with some good company to make it better.

A Weekend in Pictures

Met up with some friends at Fishmarket Restaurant in Manhattan for some drinks after work on Friday. Good food and good times. Did not get a chance to take many photos. The shot below came out bad but I don't have many pictures with Kenny.

Saturday, my battery died. I went up to Syracuse to visit but did not take any pictures. Going to post up a picture shortly though of a shot Steve took of this show we went to watch.

On Sunday, after we checked out of the hotel we headed straight for Dinosaur BBQ. Got there right when it opened. The food was AWESOME. Second time having it in the Syracuse location and it was even better than the first.

When we got back to NYC, we ate in Flushing. After we ate, some people were not content and went across the street to the shish kebab vendor to order even more food.

BTW the title of this blog is temporary. I was getting sick of the old one and just made up something stupid on the fly. Still trying to come up with something.
